Liquid Waste & Sludge Solidification

Solidify industrial liquid waste and sludge quickly with ZORBZALL® super absorbent polymer (SAP). RNR Environmental helps determine effective dosage, improve handling, and identify opportunities to reduce the volume of waste requiring disposal.

Liquid Waste Solidification

Quickly convert free liquids into manageable solids using ZORBZALL® SAP. Sample testing helps determine the most efficient dosage for each waste stream.

Sludge Solidification

Stabilize wet sludge and reduce free liquid for easier handling, transportation and disposal. Dosage depends on moisture content and waste chemistry.

Reduce Disposal Volume

Some waste streams can be separated and treated before final solidification, allowing water to be recovered for appropriate reuse while concentrating the solids into a smaller disposal stream.

How ZORBZALL® Solidifies Liquid Waste

ZORBZALL® is a sodium polyacrylate super absorbent polymer that rapidly absorbs free liquid and converts it into a more manageable solid or semi-solid material.

Effective dosage can start around 0.5%–1.5% by weight, with many suitable waste streams requiring less than 1%.

Because salts, pH, dissolved solids and other contaminants affect absorption, RNR recommends testing a representative waste sample to determine the most cost-effective dosage.

How Much SAP Is Needed for Waste Solidification?

ZORBZALL® dosage depends on the amount of free liquid and the chemistry of the waste stream. Effective dosage can start around 0.5%–1.5% by weight, with many suitable applications below 1%. Testing a representative sample is the best way to determine performance and treatment cost.

Typical Dosage

Many waste streams can be solidified using approximately 0.5%–1.5% ZORBZALL® by weight. Actual dosage varies with moisture, salts, pH, dissolved solids and contaminants.

Cost Per Treated Ton

Polymer price per pound tells only part of the story. A lower effective dosage can reduce the actual cost to treat each ton or gallon of waste and may reduce material handling requirements.

Bulk Supply

ZORBZALL® is available in 2,205 lb supersacks, with one supersack per pallet. Multi-pallet and truckload quantities are available for high-volume industrial applications.

Industrial Waste Solidification Applications

Super Absorbent Polymer for Sludge & Liquid Waste

ZORBZALL® is used to solidify free liquids and wet sludge in industrial waste streams where improved handling, transportation and disposal are required. Applications can include wastewater sludge, hydrovac and vacuum truck waste, drilling and excavation fluids, industrial process waste, remediation waste and other high-moisture materials. Because every waste stream is different, RNR Environmental recommends sample testing to determine effective dosage and treatment cost.

Reduce Liquid Waste Disposal & Hauling Costs

The lowest-cost absorbent is not always the product with the lowest price per pound. Treatment cost depends on how much material is required to solidify each ton or gallon of waste. Because ZORBZALL® can be effective at relatively low dosage rates, RNR Environmental evaluates the waste stream to help determine polymer usage, handling requirements and cost per treated unit. For high-volume waste streams, even small improvements in dosage or disposal volume can produce significant savings.

Paint Filter Test & Liquid Waste Solidification

Many landfills and disposal facilities require waste to contain no free liquids before acceptance. ZORBZALL® super absorbent polymer can be used to solidify free liquid and improve waste handling before transportation and disposal. RNR Environmental can evaluate representative waste samples for dosage and performance, including preparation for Paint Filter Test and liquid release requirements. Final acceptance criteria and testing requirements are determined by the receiving facility and applicable regulations.

Hydrovac, Vacuum Truck & Drilling Waste Solidification

Hydrovac excavation, vacuum truck operations and drilling projects can generate large volumes of wet material containing free liquid. ZORBZALL® super absorbent polymer can be mixed with suitable waste streams to rapidly bind free liquid and create a more manageable material for handling, transportation and disposal. RNR Environmental can test representative samples to determine an effective dosage and estimate treatment cost before bulk use.

Wastewater Sludge & Industrial Process Waste

Wastewater treatment and industrial processes can generate sludge and high-moisture waste that is difficult and expensive to handle. ZORBZALL® super absorbent polymer can solidify free liquid and stabilize suitable sludge for easier handling, transportation and disposal. RNR Environmental evaluates representative samples to determine effective dosage, treatment cost and whether reducing free liquid or disposal volume can improve the economics of the waste-management process.

Bulk Super Absorbent Polymer Supplier

RNR Environmental supplies ZORBZALL® sodium polyacrylate super absorbent polymer for industrial waste solidification in bulk 2,205 lb supersacks. Each pallet contains one supersack, with multi-pallet and truckload quantities available. Bulk pricing is available for high-volume users, and RNR can help evaluate dosage and cost per treated ton or gallon so buyers can compare actual treatment economics rather than polymer price alone.

Request a ZORBZALL® Sample or Bulk Quote

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a specific waste stream? Contact RNR Environmental for a sample evaluation and treatment-cost comparison.

The lowest-cost solution is not always the absorbent with the lowest price per pound. Total cost depends on treatment dosage, waste volume, hauling, landfill tonnage and disposal fees. RNR Environmental evaluates conventional ZORBZALL® SAP solidification, wastewater or sludge-water treatment, and RNR WasteShrink™ Technology to identify the most cost-effective approach for each waste stream.

Reducing the amount of water, weight and volume ultimately transported can significantly change sludge-disposal economics. Depending on the waste stream, RNR may use wastewater separation or treatment, efficient ZORBZALL® solidification, WasteShrink™ Technology, or a combination of approaches to reduce truckloads, disposal tonnage and total waste-management costs.

The most efficient method depends on the waste chemistry, solids content, moisture, disposal requirements and transportation costs. Rather than assuming every waste stream should simply be solidified with more absorbent, RNR evaluates whether water can be separated or treated, whether low-dose SAP solidification is appropriate, or whether WasteShrink™ Technology can further reduce the material requiring final disposal.
