RNR provides two treatment options for wet tunnel muck, TBM spoil, EPB muck and water-rich excavated soils.
LANDFILL / DISPOSAL
Wet tunnel muck and water-rich excavated soils can contain excess moisture that increases handling, transportation and disposal costs.
RNR supplies high-efficiency ZORBZALL® industrial absorbents selected to rapidly solidify free liquid with minimal added material. Standard and specialty grades are available based on waste chemistry and project requirements.
Bulk and project pricing depends on product grade, required performance, order volume, current availability and delivery destination. Representative sample testing can identify the most effective absorbent grade and dosage for the specific material.
Major tunnel and TBM projects may qualify for additional project-specific high-volume pricing, including multi-truckload and ongoing supply requirements.

DRYING / MATERIAL RECOVERY
Need to remove water without adding absorbent, lime, cement, sawdust or other permanent bulking material?
RNR WasteShrink™ Technology offers a different approach: physically reduce excess moisture from wet tunnel muck without relying on absorbent, lime, cement, sawdust or other permanent bulking materials for the drying process.
This may be especially valuable when excavated material is being evaluated for beneficial reuse, backfill or other recovery applications where adding large quantities of treatment material is undesirable.
HIGH-VOLUME PROJECTS
RNR can evaluate high-volume tunnel muck operations based on:
• Tons of wet muck produced per day
• Starting moisture content
• Desired final moisture or material condition
• Disposal versus potential reuse
Large tunnel projects can generate thousands of tons of wet muck per day. RNR can evaluate scalable onsite processing for project-specific production requirements.

Have a tunnel project bidding or underway? Send RNR your tons per day, approximate moisture content, required final condition and a representative muck sample. We will evaluate the most economical treatment approach for disposal or potential material recovery.
