Two Paths for Wet Dredged Material

RNR Environmental provides two approaches for wet dredged sediment and dredging slurry: rapid solidification for handling and disposal, or moisture reduction when reducing disposal weight and preserving material for potential recovery or reuse is the better objective.

Rapid Solidification with ZORBZALL®

ZORBZALL® super absorbent polymer rapidly absorbs free liquid in wet sediment, dredging slurry and other water-rich materials. Low treatment dosages can produce a more manageable solid with minimal added bulk compared with high-volume bulking materials.

Reduce Disposal Weight with WasteShrink™

When excess moisture is driving hauling and disposal costs, RNR WasteShrink™ Technology can be evaluated to reduce moisture, weight and waste volume rather than simply adding material to the waste. The objective is fewer tons hauled and disposed when the application is suitable.

Paint Filter Test & Disposal Requirements

For dredged material destined for disposal, RNR can develop a treatment approach around the receiving facility's requirements, including the Paint Filter Liquids Test where applicable. Dosage and treatment performance are determined using the customer's actual material.

Potential Recovery & Beneficial Reuse

Some dredged sediment may have value for beneficial reuse once excess water is removed. Where contamination, chemistry and local requirements allow, RNR can evaluate moisture reduction while minimizing added material so the sediment can be assessed for potential recovery or reuse.
